The headline today gave me a heart attack : Arson Not Suspected in Fitchburg Apartment Fire - and the article did not name the place so I had to search Channel3000 website to find out where.

It was then that I realized that I forgot completely about the second anniversary of the fire that almost killed me and my kids. It was September 5th, 2002 at around 5:40 am. The fire changed my life in both good and bad ways. Last year, I was a wreck before the anniversary and barely slept the night. This year, in the hospital with Skeeter, I barely noticed the passing of the date. I still don't like to talk about it... it crushes and scares me.

... that means I am getting better, right?

I heard about that fire yesterday while driving home and had the same sort of reaction to it. And yes, I think it does mean that you're getting better but at the same time just because you didn't consciously remember the "anniversary" doesn't mean it hasn't been lurking there in your subconscious. It might be an additional reason that you've been feeling as stressed as you have been.

Give it some more time and it will continue to get better.

The fire was at Ridgewood... the complex Daygan used to live in.
You're getting better as much as anyone can. On the 5th this year, we saw a movie and hung out at Tim's and in general it was a pretty good day (aside from the hospital part). I'm glad you were with us that day this year.
