Next word: What does faith mean to you when you hear it?
Monday, February 25th, 2008 06:45 pm (UTC)
Faith can be a synonym for trust, in the context of relationships. I have faith that my family will love me back; that my friends will listen to me; that when I let my lover tie me up he will untie me again. That when I let my heart be open and vulnerable the people I am opening it to won't stomp on it.

Faith in the context of religion means to believe without, or-even worse-against, evidence and/or reason. This I fundamentally don't understand--how can one consciously make decisions or adopt beliefs without evidence? Does not compute for me.
