How odd. I like quite the opposite. It drives me nuts when women are passive.

However, I am not anywhere close to normal on this. Most men are pigs, and while the US doesn't suffer anywhere near the crippling levels of macho idiocy as any part of asian or hispanic culture, it's still pretty deeply ingrained.

If you look on slowlane.com, a website for housedads, you find that acceptance among other men is one of biggest trials that housedads suffer. Other men find us threatening or demeaning to men in general or some stupid shit like that.

I really, really need to introduce you to my friend Sarah of No Livejournal's husband Aaron sometime. He's geeky and neat and takes care of their three kids (all under the age of 6) most of the time while Sarah's in school. If you see a guy working at the Willy St. co-op with a baby strapped to his back, that's him.

There is a housedads group that meets at a kid's store near Monty's Blue Plate. The store is a bit too frau frau for my tastes, but over the next several years I'm certain to be despirate for like minded souls.

An additional issue that housedads run into is that taking your kid to a traditional play group cconsisting mostly of housewives can cause them and their husbands to get all bent out of shape.

As if you can imagine how sad the pickup line would be.

"Hey baby, I see that you're taking care of your child. I too am taking care of a child. We should get together some time!"
